FAQ

Cannot Login on Blackboard, Get Error when I Click “Login.”

You must have a Blackboard account to access Blackboard course sites. If you did not yet request a Blackboard account, submit request for account.

If you have a Blackboard account, check if you can access any other service on campus that requires Kerberos authentication such as uportal.cornell.edu or webmail.cornell.edu. If Blackboard is the only service that you cannot access, call 1-866-321-7174 for assistance.

Once I Login, Cannot See any Courses that I’m Registered to Take.

You must enroll for a course on Blackboard first. Blackboard is independent of the University registration system.

  1. Log in at http://blackboard.cornell.edu
  2. Click "All Blackboard Sites" tab
  3. Search for your course by course title. To search under other criteria, click the Browse Course Catalog link
  4. Click button marked "Enroll"

If there is no "Enroll" button, then the instructor has set course enrollment options so that you cannot enroll yourself. In this case, you will need to contact the professor directly for instructions.

Cannot Enroll for a Course, Get Error “Access Denied.”

You are unable to enroll in the class because the course enrollment options are set for instructor-led enrollment only. The instructor or a course TA would need to enroll students in the course. You need to contact your professor for further instructions.

CourseEnroll, Just the Facts Page, and Blackboard Courses

To register to take the course at any college, you must use CourseEnroll. The Just the Facts page shows you enrollment status. Blackboard is a course management system that some instructors use voluntarily, not all courses are available on Blackboard and enrolling in a course on Blackboard does not mean that you’re properly registered through the registrar to take the course.
